During my pregnancy, my mother always reminded me to observe my everyday habits….to make it clear, Please behave nicely as how you want your future kids to react to the world. In other words, control your temper, control your emotion, respect others, build up your positive attitudes, bla..bla…bla… My mother said, all that you feel, you react, you do, will be the behaviours of your to-be-borned kids.

It’s really hard to believe at first but as time goes by, I started to believe in that. Looking at my childs and remembering what I did when I carried them in my tummy, my mother’s advice is nothing but all truth.

They inherit my behaviours, good and bad….the way they react, the way they respond, the way they handle their emotions…it’s like I’m looking at the mirror….. I saw myself in them.

So, if you think you want your kids to behave nicely and satisfactorily, you know now where you should start….Good Luck!!…..

The new Disney NetPal from Asus is a beefed-up Eee PC netbook with thicker hinges, a spill-proof keyboard, onboard parental controls and no shortage of Disney-themed frosting. Once you get past the mouse ear-shaped Webcam, this is just a typical Intel Atom-powered Windows XP netbook that you could easily imagine prying from your child to look up a recipe or watch a funny YouTube video.

There are three USB ports and a Secure Digital slot, plus a VGA graphics-out port for school reports and a headphone jack. The Wi-Fi/Webcam combination could make Skyping with a grandparent an option. The case comes in pink (aka Princess Pink) or blue, and there are two hard drive options – either the 160-gigabyte model (the MK90h) or the more shockproof 16GB solid state drive model (the MK90).

You may opt for the larger size and teach your child how to back up photos or projects on a separate USB drive. Missing is a disk drive. What makes this worth the few dollars over a cheaper vanilla netbook or an iPod Touch? According to Chris Heatherly, head of the Disney team behind the system, it has to do with your peace of mind.

Rather than going the filtering route, the NetPal uses a white-list approach, where you decide what your child sees through his custom Disney desktop, which mixes installed applications with online destinations. A scheduler, hidden behind a password, lets you decide which games your child can play, and when, if you want to limit your child’s time with Webkinz or Free Realms to after school but also have it inaccessible at bedtime, you can do so.

Perhaps the best part of this netbook is that it gives you choices. So if your child gets tired of Hannah Montana or if you feel your child has outgrown the virtual fencing, you can toggle off your magical kingdom, download FireFox and run your NetPal like the netbook it really is. The NetPal goes for USD350. – NYT.

Sin Chew Daily reported that an elderly couple in Singapore who gave up their duplex to their son ended up homeless after they were chased out of the house by the ungrateful offspring. The couple now call the staircase of a school their home. The man, who was named as Lim, was a manager before he retired. He had a son and a daughter who lived in Jurong, Singapore.

Relating his ordeal to a secretary of the school, Lim said he and his wife decided to give their duplex home to their son as a wedding gift about two years ago. The couple thought that they could live in the house with their son. He, however, decided to sell the property for RM960,000 to buy another condominium. Lim and his wife were then sent off to live with his daughter.

After a year, the daughter decided that they were no longer welcome and banned from touching her children. The couple could not enter the house after their daughter changed the locks to the house.

I’m not sure, how true is this story but it seems to bad for an action of human beings. Can you imagine chasing OUR OWN PARENT OUT FROM THEIR OWN HOUSE!! How ungrateful….They brought us to the world…Mom carried us in their tummy for nine month. It’s not always a wonderful exercise. For nine consecutive months, mom has to forget her own needs…consideration would always go to the baby. No drugs, no cigar, no drinks, no chemical, NO..NO..NO…just for the sake of healthy baby. When we were born, our parents priorities has changed. Everything goes to the kids…They wants us to have good life, good food, good shelter, good education…Every good things for us…So that we can lead a successful life in future…That’s what their ONLY HOPE…THE HOPE that we can’t even PAYBACK during entire life. Yet, there are still an unshamed, ungrateful kids who are willing to take over their parent properties, chase them away and make them homeless.

WE CAN’T EVEN PAYBACK THEIR MERCY. WE CAN’T EVEN MATCH THEIR SACRIFICE…WHY CAN’T WE BE GOOD TO THEM…LIFE IS NOT THAT LONG. DO GOOD THINGS TO OUR PARENTS AS HOW WE WANT OUR KIDS TO TREAT US. REMEMBER, WHAT WE DO TO OUR PARENTS, WE WILL ALWAYS BE REWARDED WITH THE SAME TREATMENT BY OUR KIDS. GOOD FOR GOOD, BAD FOR BAD….THINK ABOUT IT…

So, we decided to enrol them for a swimming lesson. It was a 32 hour lesson in 4 months time. The result…..A PROUD MOTHER….

Imagine looking at your kids swimming in the Olympic size pool of 10m depth and jumping from the 5m height of platform into the water…TOO PROUD…

Unfortunately my 5year old daughter couldn’t make it to the advance level. But it’s ok, atleast she is now able to float herself in the water. I will still make her join the class when she’s ready.

I read the following with mix feelings…sad, sympathy, worry for my own fate. One said, parents can always take care of their own kids, one, two or ten of them, it’s not a big problem. But that’s not a sure guarantee that kids can also take care of their old parents. What is our OWN preparation for this?? Of course, SET SOME SAVING for US to spend during old age time. DON’T RELY ON KIDS to take care of us. In my own opinion, if we hope to get some care from the kids when we’re old, we have to also check our current the relationship with our parents. There’s a RULE of NATURE; If we do good things to others, in return, people will always treat us with due respect. If it’s the opposite, then we know the outcomes. It’s most relevant to family’s relationship. We care for our old parent wholeheartedly, we will be awarded with the same care later. I always believe in that. Think about it….

FEELING GUILTY ABOUT BECOMING A BURDEN TO DAUGHTER

I am a retired civil servant in my 70s and a widower. I live in a single storey house with my spinster daughter who retired two years ago as a government clerk. All these years my daughter has been looking after us. I walk about with the aid of the walking stick. My other three children and their families are doing very well but for one reason or another, they decided that it is best I remain with my single daughter.

I have decided to leave my house to her but they were unhappy as they expected a share of the house after I die. My children don’t give me any financial support. They will do so only after I have used up my modest savings. When they visit, they bring me fruits and cakes. A close relative told me that they are afraid that their sister might take any money they give me. My friends and relatives say that they should at least give some “guilt money” to help out as they are free from the responsibility of looking after me in my old age.

With that extra money, I will feel more secure and we can be more extravagent where food is concerned. I don’t want my daughter to use her money for my medical expenses, etc. She has done more that enough. I will be bed-ridden. I feel so guilty that I have become such a burden to her. She can’t be free like others to go where and when she pleases because she is worried about my safety. She has sacrificed so much for us. I hope she won’t have to do so for too long.

For those of us who own a blog, followings are VERY USEFUL TIPS to consider. It’s an open secret that BLOG can GIVE US MONETARY BENEFITS if being publicised properly. As for me, there are still few tips that I’m still unable to follow especially when comes to TIPS NO. 2, to POST FREQUENTLY…But, one day I’ll change…If that can bring me more advantages…Why Not!! I’LL CHANGE, I’LL CHANGE, I’LL CHANGE….ehhmm….Happy reading…

Chances are your blog is not going to land you a book or a movie deal like Julie Powell or make you a superstar like Perez Hilton. But it can bring you personal satisfaction, give you an outlet for expression, help you connect with others and even assist you with leveraging a business. Along the way, you may even come across a little fame. Here’s how;

Blog about what you are passionate about, said Jennifer Mc Lean of blog search engine Technorati. Coming up with fesh and interesting content is easier and if you’re only blogging for money or fame, readers will pick up on it, she said.

Make sure you post frequently, said Gretchen Rubin, who blogs about happiness. “That is a sign of vitality on a blog”. And have a clear idea of what you are blogging about. Blogs do better when you have a focus.

If you are an aspiring author, show that you have a loyal following, said Brooke Warner, senior editor at Seal Press. “When someone says I get 25,000 unique visitors a month, we pay attention”, she said. “They have readers and either their story or writing is really good”.

Develop your unique voice. Powell, who blogged about cooking about all the recipes in a Julia Child cookbook, had a “unique hook – nobody else had done that”, said Ellen Gerstein, vice president of marketing for John Wiley & Sons. She also brought a lot of humour to her blog.

Spend time on marketing, said Darren Rowse of Problogger.net, a blog with tips for bloggers. With millions of blogs afloat on the web, writing posts isn’t enough to attract followers, he said. Focus on writing guest posts for other blogs or networking, for example.

Your preschooler can start contributing to the family photo archives, thanks to this year’s lineup of Kidizoom cameras, in stores next month from Vtech. The more expensive two-megapixel model, the Kidizoom Plus has some welcome enhancements. For USD60 (RM215), you get 2x digital zoom, a movie mode (with sound), 256 megabytes of memory and a Secure Digital (SD) memory slot. There’s a binocular-style optical viewfinder plus a preview screen that works with a D-Pad (direction keys) to serve up five surprisingly fun arcade-style games.

An onboard photo editor transforms photos into jigsaw puzzles, and surprisingly, the photos aren’t too bad. The more affordable 0.3 megapixel Kidizoom (USD40) has the same features as the older Kidizoom, minus the optical viewfinder. This is one of those times where the additional USD20 gets you a lot more features.

Both cameras include a Mac or Windows photo editor, crude auto flash, USB and AV cables to connect to your computer or TV, and run on four AA batteries. Now the next time your preschooler lunges for your Hasselbad, you can hand him his working digital camera.

Mum, if you are thinking of buying one for your kids, you can alternatively get it here;

One fine day, I was approached by salesman selling mini digital camera. That item was so cute that I couldn’t resist to buy one for my son. Hei..I’m about to groom a future professional photographer….

The image quality is quite acceptable, considering its price of only RM50 (about USD14). When I handed that creature to my son, I knew from his face that he’s about to discover a new hobby…being a part time photographer….

So you see….those image are like painting…considering the price, it’s acceptable to me. Anyway, I’m grooming my kid’s interest to shoot… That’s considered a cheap investment, RIGHT??

P.S, While surfing lately, I’ve discovered this e-book that elaborates on the way to make money online from photos. Mums, if we share the same interest, feel free to check this out on How to Start a Profitable Photography Business.

I’ve got a call from a young man… I don’t really know him personally. He is just one of the technician from the company that I enganged to install electronic equipment at my premise. He called me for ONE PURPOSE… to persuade me to join HIS MLM, DIRECT SELLING kind of business. But the way he delivered things to me…I wouldn’t even give a thought to TRY… He insulted me…Maybe unintentionally, BUT STILL it broke my heart…

A YOUNG PERSON, to enthusiastic to improve his financial situation..I GUESS…So, he had no choice but to look for as many downline as possible..But YOUNG MAN, I’m not the one you should look for.

YM : Sis, how about joining me for the talk tonight?

Me : I’m sorry. I can’t make it..I’m just unable to arrange my time for that yet

YM : Every person has only 24 hours a day. If you keep giving excuse, it wouldn’t change anything. One of the member that I know has given the same excuse before but after he joined, he realised he made a mistake not to join earlier..Even those successful entrepreneur has also joined this program as well ..BLA..BLA..BLA…From what you’re involved now, I know it doesn’t generate much…BLA..BLA..BLA…

At this time, I felt like I want to spit on his face…(OF COURSE, we were just ON PHONE..) Hei, who are you to judge my conditions? Who ask you to direct me WHAT TO DO and WHAT NOT TO DO?? I bet with this kind of approach, he wouldn’t go anywhere…Not even a single person want to join him due to his arrogant approach..

My dear, I’ve been involved in MLM and Direct Selling world much, much earlier than you yourself understand this world. 15 years back, I was also like you..to eager to be RICH…Anybody can be rich by joining those companies, why can’t I?? That’s the mindset at that time…I’ve joined..not one but 5 MLM companies..I FAILED…Not that the companies were bad…But myself couldn’t adapt the culture and the effort needed to be successful…First and foremost, I don’t have the appealing power to persuade peoples to join…Secondly, I just couldn’t fell in love with the items that I sell…therefore, people that I approached just not convinced with the way I conveyed the message. Thirdly, I couldn’t stand the late night meetings, discussions, 24/7 commitments. SORRY YOUNG MAN, YOU’VE DIALLED THE WRONG NUMBER!!!

At this point of time in my life, money is not solely thing that I go-all-out-for. Hei, I’ve experienced 9 to 5 working life before…FOR ALMOST 12 years before I decided to stay at home looking after the babies and some other life improvement stuff. I was a first degree graduate and at the point when I resigned from my position, I’ve already earned 4 figures. So, you see the point…even the office work is not for me, what else is the direct selling. It is just doesn’t suit me due to commitment that required. Money will only come to those who are full hearted, fulltime doing it….THAT’s NOT FOR ME…

I’m already old and full of motherhood commitment…If you think being a fulltime mother is not that hectic, you can try to be one. I believe there are more ways to generate earning for the group of mothers rather than to focus your time day and night and leave your family aside for the sake of making money. What’s the point of making money, if we couldn’t have a balance life?? With today’s technology, we can still find ways to make a living BUT at the same time witness the kids to grow up…

What Is the A (H1N1) Influenza?

It is a respiratory disease of pigs caused by type A strains of the influenza virus. It regularly causes high flu outbreaks in pigs but with low death rates. There are four main sub-types of the virus, but the most recent isolated influenza viruses from pigs have been H1N1 viruses.

How Does It Spread?

Influenza A (H1N1) viruses do not typically infect humans though they do occur through close proximity or contact with infected pigs or contaminated areas. Cases of human-to-human spread have been documented.

What Are The Symptoms?

The symptoms are similar to those of regular flu;
- Fever
- Lethargy
- Runny nose
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Lack of appetite
- Vomiting and diarrhoea in some cases.

How Common Is The A (H1N1) Flu Infection in Humans?

In the past reports of about one human A(H1N1) flu virus infection had been received every one to two years in the United States. From December 2005 till February 2009, 12 cases have been reported.

Has This Strain of Flu Been Seen Before?

No. Flu mutates constantly, so it is common for new strains to emerge. Pigs can also be infected with both human and avian influenza, and the current circulating A (H1N1) flu strain appears to contain genetic elements from all three.

Can The A (H1N1) Flu Be Treated With Antiviral Drugs and Flu Vaccine?

The A (H1N1) flu is resistant to two common drugs – Amantadine and Rimantadine. The A (H1N1) flu viruses are very different from human H1N1 viruses. Therefore, vaccines for human seasonal flu would not provide protection. However, a “seed vaccine” has been specifically tailored to this swine flu and will be manufactured if officials deem it necessary.

Can People Catch A (H1N1) Flu By Eating Pork?

No. The A (H1N1) influenza viruses are not transmitted by food. Eating properly handled and cooked pork and pork products is safe. Cooking pork to an internal temperature of 70ºC and above kills the swine flu virus.

How Long is Someone With The A (H1N1) Flu Considered Contagious?

People with the A (H1N1) influenza virus infection should be considered potentially contagious as long as they are symptomatic; possibly for up to seven days following the onset of the illness. Children, especially younger children, might potentially be contagious for longer periods.

What Can I Do to Protect Myself From The A (H1N1) Flu?

There is no vaccine available right now to protect against the A (H1N1) flu.

However, you can help prevent the spread of germs that cause respiratory illnesses like influenza by:

Covering your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or handkerchief when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the waste basket after you use it.

Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also helpful

Try to avoid close contact with sick people. – If you get sick with influenza, stay at home and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.

Consult your nearest healthcare facility if you think you have any of the symptoms.

What Precautions Are In Place In Malaysia?

The Health Ministry’s operations room in Putrajaya has started a 24-hour monitoring of the situation. The public can call 03-8881 0200/300 for enquiries.

Those returning from Latin American countries and found to have flu-like symptoms will be quarantined.

Health Ministry officials are conducting health screenings on passengers arriving from the United States.

Thermal scanners will be placed at international airports to speed up the screening process for A (H1N1) flu.

Public and private medical practitioners have been instructed to report to the district health office any patient with influenza-like illnesses or severe pneumonia symptoms and who had travelled to the affected countries after April 17.

Travel Advisory from the foreign ministry

Where Can I Get More Information?

For more information, go to the Health Ministry (www.moh.gov.my) or call the Ministry’s hotline at (603) 8881-0200/300.
